The Librarians and The Lost Lamp by Greg Cox Review
Tor was gracious enough to send me a copy of The Librarians and the Lost Lamp by Greg Cox. The box is the first in the trilogy based off the tv series The Librarians. The story follows the Librarians a group of people who have been tasked with keeping the world safe from magical relics by finding them and getting the relics archived.
The book is set in two worlds one with our new inexperienced librarians in 2016 and one set 10 years before with our last librarian both in search of Arabian Nights because of what might happen if the lamp were to make it into the world. The first story is set in 2006 with Flynn Carson (Noah Wyle is the actor from the movies) while he travels around the world trying to find the oldest version of Scheherazade’s book The Arabian Nights, chasing after the evil organization he believes has stolen it. Flynn must work hard to keep the lamp out of the hands of people who would use it with hateful intentions. The other story follows the inexperienced Librarians when they hear about a gambler in Las Vegas who’s luck has gone up significantly. The stories converge in a really well written way while both try to keep the genie in the bottle and evil from winning.
The book is well written and enjoyable. I am a fan of the show and this book is a great companion to it. Greg has a great grasp of the characters and shows depth in giving each a life that allows us to want to journey with them on their adventures. It fits in so well with the series adn gives us something to enjoy while we are not watching the tv show. The book comes out on October 11th. Check out the book if you enjoy the movies, series and if you enjoy fantasy and myths and legends.
