Old World Oktoberfest in Huntington Beach is Back
I made it over to the Oktoberfest at Old World in Huntington Beach this Sunday for Kinderfest. It’s a kid’s themed day each weekend at Oktoberfest so you can bring the whole family to enjoy in the festivities of Oktoberfest without having to go all the way to Germany. Not that I wouldn’t want to make it to Germany for Oktoberfest one day. I convinced my boyfriend to go by offering to buy him a beer and German food.
It’s set up at a German restaurant, the kind with the mess hall that always makes me think of high school cafeterias. I loved the food in our cafeteria so I promise it’s not a bad thing. We both love German food so we frequent places like this from time to time.
Oktoberfest at Old World Huntington Beach is open on Wednesdays to Sundays now through October 28th. Wednesdays and Thursdays are free to all ages (though someone under 21 must be accompanied by an parent) from 6:30pm -10:30pm. On Fridays and Saturdays it is open only to those 21 and over from 6:30pm-1am for only $10 ($15 for Saturdays in October). Sundays are their Kinderfest days which is where they focus around the children. Adults are $10, kids 6-12 are $3, 5 and under free. The best part about Sundays is the Dachshund Races from 3pm to 4pm. You can even enter your dogs yourself if you so chose.Contact Inge Mckellop at (714) 402-7327.
We are getting a dog, maybe we will get a dachshund to be able to enter him into the races. I honestly can’t wait for us to get a puppy. Just a few more weeks. The races were so adorable. The puppies were overly excited and so happy to be hanging out at the event. Each run was two puppies, each puppy got to run two races. I wasn’t feeling great and didn’t see the end of the races. They also had the chicken dance, Oom-Pah-Pa music and some of the best German food I’ve eaten in a while.
Overall I had fun at the event and now I’m gonna come back soon and take my little cousins so they can play in the bounce house and the carnival style games they have set up for the children. I can’t wait to come back and have a sausage, some mashed potatoes.
