Passport to Iron City – Alita Battle Experience

So I happened to hear everyone talking about this popup and wanted to check it out. It was a pop up installation based off the new Alita film. I had heard that it was a lot of fun. I was a little apprehensive because of the cost of a ticket. Tickets were $50 a person which seemed a little steep for a popup. I just happened across a code that made them cheaper and I jumped on it and called up my bestie and we went to go find out what all the fuss was about.

First off it’s in a warehouse. Which is fine except its near some real shady parts of LA so we spent the whole time driving over worrying that I had indeed bought us tickets to a murder house. We got there found parking and quickly got inside because we had dilly dallied too long at lunch with my mom and we were running a bit behind. Because you have 45 minutes to get ready they have a bar you can buy drinks from in that 45 minutes. We got there with like 12 minutes to spare so we did not buy drinks. Instead we tried to quickly orient ourselves with what was going on. We both had no idea what we were in for.

We chose the Grey Team and we chose to be a dual team rather then group up with another team. I think in the end that helped us because we work great as a team and we were victorious in the end. The first thing we had to do was find our matches. We got lucky and our matches were found quickly. We also pulled the first card for the matches and thus we started the game on top of the scoreboard.

I don’t really want to give away the game because it is still running and walking in not knowing what is going on makes the game a little bit cooler. In my opinion at least. I had a lot of fun learning as we went. I dont think we would have had a hand up on winning even if we had done it before because everything is based on luck and some skill.

I will say we won. We were down a bit towards the end but came out on top. I was proud of us. We are both crazy competitive so it would have been funny to watch us lose. The neat thing is the winning team gets a really cool coin to take home as a souvenir. This is really my only complaint with the popup. The price is pretty high. It lasts an hour and only one team of 2-6 people walk away with an item. So that makes it weird to me. I feel like their should have been something that they gave to everyone other then your id card. Which is cool. They print you an id card that has your picture and your nickname on it.

Overall would I do it again. Yes. It was fun and I’d love to experience it again with different friends. If you enjoy games, escape rooms, Alita or doing challenges with friends this might just be the event for you.
