Shazam Movie Review

by

I got the boyfriend out of the house for a movie date night. He doesn’t really like theatres so its hard to get him to see movies. We missed Aquaman, Us, Pet Semetary. I wanted to see them all in theatres but life happens. I am trying to get him to not skip the big ones. We will definitely be seeing Detective Pikachu.

I didn’t know what to expect going into Shazam. I didn’t know much about the character, when it comes to DC I have my favorites and I don’t really follow the rest. I am more a gotham girl with a penchant for the villains then a super hero girl.

We both loved the film. I think its the best light hearted film DC has done to date. I don’t know if I love it more then Wonder Woman but I think it was fantastically done.

Zachary Levi does a wonderful job of playing a grown up teenager. I think that is what makes the film really enjoyable is his playing with the character. It never feels forced, the jokes just roll out and stick. There are very few moments you are waiting for the scene to end.

I like the way they incorporated his family. I enjoyed every actors unique takes on the characters and the depth you felt for the different people. I loved the SFX fot the deadly sins and the fact that they left the door open for Justice League Dark. If you only go see one DC movie this year I’d probably vote for this one.
